Resorts & Destinations

Payment Processing for
Eco & Wilderness Resorts

Guests may book months ahead, pay in stages, then spend across lodging, activities, food and retail once they arrive.

Fizel helps wilderness resorts build payments around the entire guest experience — not just the reservation that started it.

The guest journey

The booking is only the first transaction.

A guest reserves five nights in August and leaves a deposit in January. The balance is settled a few weeks out. A guided day and a transfer get added before they travel. Then they arrive, and the property keeps taking money — dinner, a rental, a jacket from the shop, an extra night because the weather turned good.

That is the defining commercial reality of a destination outdoor property. It is not a nightly room rate and it is not a single packaged trip. It is one guest relationship that produces transactions over months, through several channels, in several parts of the operation.

Fizel specializes in the outdoor economy and works across the wider Resorts & Destinations category, alongside ski and mountain resorts, glamping resorts and fishing and wilderness lodges.

Deposit. Balance. Stay. Extras.

Payments happen across the whole guest relationship.

Each moment lands at a different time, through a different channel, and often through a different part of the property. None of it should require unrelated payment relationships.

Advance bookings and deposits

A destination stay is often reserved long before the season opens. A deposit holds the dates and is taken online, by payment link or over the phone, months before anyone drives in.

Balances before arrival

The remaining balance is usually collected remotely on the property's own schedule rather than at check-in, which makes card-not-present workflows ordinary rather than exceptional.

Spend across the property

Once guests arrive, the stay keeps producing transactions across whichever parts of the operation exist — activities, rentals, the kitchen, the shop, transfers, extra nights.

Groups, retreats and private bookings

A retreat, a corporate group or a family buyout books several units at once and is usually paid by one organizer through a deposit, an invoice or a staged schedule.

More than accommodation

The property earns in more places than the room.

Depending on the operation, revenue arrives from lodging, guided experiences and activities, equipment rentals, food service, retail, transfers and guest add-ons. Few resorts run all of it, and the ones that run most of it rarely want each counter treated as an unrelated business with its own provider and its own statement.

Fizel supports the payment side of those streams in one environment, with multi-location processing and consolidated reporting so the numbers can be read together at month end. Operational tooling sits under running your business.

Fizel provides payment acceptance. We do not provide property management, reservations, room or unit inventory, activity scheduling, guest folios, housekeeping or restaurant operations.

Existing systems

Keep the systems that work.

An established resort already runs on something. A reservation or property system holds the calendar, a website takes bookings, a POS sits at the shop and the kitchen, and everything reconciles into accounting. Replacing that is rarely the goal, and it is not what we sell.

Fizel starts with how the resort works today, then determines what stays as it is, what can connect, and where the payment environment itself can be improved. Compatibility with your specific platforms is confirmed during setup rather than claimed in advance.

Fizel is the payments partner. The software that runs the property stays yours.

Payment capabilities

Built around the resort's workflows, not a feature list.

Not every property needs every piece. Most start where the volume is — the online booking and the deposit — then add the counters, the mobile devices and the remote workflows around it.

Before arrival

  • Ecommerce payments, gateways and hosted payment pages for online bookings
  • Deposits and pre-authorizations where the booking calls for them
  • Payment links and email invoicing for balances collected ahead of the stay
  • Virtual terminal for reservations taken by phone or email

At the property

  • Countertop terminals at reception, the kitchen and the retail counter
  • Wireless terminals and Tap to Pay on supported devices away from the front desk
  • Chip, tap and contactless acceptance, including internationally issued cards
  • Refunds and released holds handled as ordinary business

Across the operation

  • Multi-location and multi-channel processing under one merchant relationship
  • Consolidated reporting across lodging, activity, food and retail revenue
  • Scheduled payments where a staged collection genuinely applies
  • Funding that generally lands the next business day

The full range is on our solutions page. Online bookings sit under selling online and in-person acceptance under accepting payments.

Booking value

When the booking is more than a room night.

A destination stay can combine multiple nights, several units, guided experiences, meals and transfers into one meaningful total. A retreat or a family buyout goes further again, with a deposit, a staged balance and on-property charges all belonging to the same booking.

Fizel builds the payment environment around the resort's actual transaction mix, payment channels, processing volume and locations, rather than a generic hospitality template.

For larger operators, custom pricing is available based on volume, transaction mix, locations and payment channels — see pricing for the $10M+ path.

High volume

Processing $10M+? Let's build the right pricing.

Built for businesses processing $10M, $50M, $100M+ annually. Quoted on volume, mix, channels and locations, month-to-month.

Seasonality

Built around the season you actually have.

Weather, road and water access, recreation seasons, wildlife seasons, holidays and regional travel patterns decide when the property is full and when it is closed. Processing volume moves with all of it, and the booking window rarely lines up with the operating window.

Fizel works with seasonal outdoor businesses as a matter of course. Accounts are looked at on the volume the resort does across its real season rather than on an even twelve-month assumption, and terms are month-to-month.

From the property

The season is half sold before the road opens.

February on a wilderness property is quiet outside and busy in the office. Deposits are landing for July, a retreat organizer wants an invoice for eight units and a private chef night, and someone is asking whether the lakeside cabins can be held for a family reunion. Nobody has arrived yet and most of the season is committed.

Then it turns over. Balances go out ahead of arrival, reception takes cards for late add-ons, the activity desk books guided days, the kitchen and the shop run their own counters, and all of it has to reconcile against the same set of numbers when the season closes.

Away from the front desk

Payments where the property actually happens.

Guest spending does not stay at reception. It happens at the activity desk, the dining room, the dock, the shop and sometimes a long walk from the main building. Wireless terminals and Tap to Pay on supported devices cover those moments wherever a working network connection is available.

We will not tell you a card will clear where there is no connectivity. What we will do is look at where payments actually need to be taken on your property and set up the right mix of fixed, wireless and remote workflows around it.

Groups, retreats and private bookings

Larger bookings, paid by one organizer.

Retreats, corporate groups, destination events, family groups and multi-unit bookings usually arrive through a single contact who pays on behalf of everyone. Deposits, email invoices, payment links, scheduled payments where they genuinely apply and a final balance all sit in the same merchant environment.

Fizel handles the money side. Group management, rooming lists and event logistics stay in your own systems.

Established and multi-property operators

One payment environment across outlets and properties.

A lodge, cabins, an activity desk, a kitchen, a retail counter and sometimes a second property — each with its own rhythm, all reporting to the same business.

Advance bookings at volume

Deposits and online payments arriving continuously through the booking window, with reporting the finance side can reconcile.

Balances before arrival

Payment links, invoices and virtual terminal payments for money collected between booking and check-in.

Counters across the property

Terminals at reception, the activity desk, the kitchen and the shop, reporting alongside every other channel.

Groups and retreats

Deposits, staged collection and invoices for larger bookings paid by an organizer rather than by each guest.

International guests

Internationally issued cards accepted across online, remote and in-person channels for destination travellers.

More than one property

Multi-location processing with consolidated reporting for operators running several sites or payment environments.

Questions

Wilderness resort payments, answered.

Can Fizel work with our existing reservation or property-management system?

That is the starting point. Fizel integrates broadly across booking, point-of-sale, accounting and business systems, and compatibility with your specific platforms is confirmed during setup rather than promised in advance. Fizel is the payment layer — we do not provide reservations, availability, room or unit inventory, activity scheduling, housekeeping, guest messaging or property management.

Can guests pay a deposit when they book?

Yes. Deposits can be taken through your online checkout, a hosted payment page, a payment link, or the virtual terminal when the booking is made by phone. Pre-authorizations are available where a hold suits the booking better than a charge. Deposit amounts, deadlines and cancellation terms remain the resort's decisions.

Can we collect the remaining balance before arrival?

Yes. Balances are commonly collected remotely — a payment link or invoice sent ahead of the stay, or a card kept on file inside the payment environment and charged on the date you have agreed with the guest.

Can Fizel support payments across lodging, activities, food and retail?

Yes, for whichever of those the property actually runs. Lodging, guided experiences, rentals, food service and the retail counter can sit in one payment environment with consolidated reporting instead of separate accounts with separate providers. Fizel handles payment acceptance, not the scheduling or inventory behind it.

Can we take payments away from the main front desk?

Yes. Wireless terminals and Tap to Pay on supported devices allow payments at an activity desk, a dock, a dining room or out on the property — wherever a working network connection is available.

Can Fizel support group and retreat payments?

Yes. Retreats, corporate groups, destination events and multi-unit family bookings can be handled with a deposit up front and the balance collected by email invoice, payment link or scheduled payments sent to whoever is organizing and paying. Fizel does not provide group-booking or event management software.

Can Fizel support multiple properties or locations?

Yes. Multi-location processing with consolidated reporting is supported, so an operator running more than one property or several payment environments on one property can read the whole business together while each area keeps the setup that suits it.

How does Fizel work with highly seasonal resorts?

Seasonality is normal in the outdoor economy and it is built into how we look at an account. Terms are month-to-month, and pricing is quoted on the volume the property actually does across its season rather than on an even twelve-month assumption.

Can Fizel support international guests?

Yes. Internationally issued cards are accepted across online, remote and in-person channels, which matters for destination properties drawing guests from outside the region. Currency and settlement specifics are confirmed for your account during setup.

How does pricing work for a high-volume wilderness resort?

Pricing is quoted on your actual processing volume, transaction mix, payment channels and locations rather than published as a single rate, and terms are month-to-month. Operators processing $10M or more annually are quoted through the custom pricing path on our pricing page.
