About Fizel

Built by people who
live the outdoors.

Fizel was created by a team with decades of experience in payments who also spend their time surfing, mountain biking, skiing, fly fishing, hiking, and climbing. Those experiences inspired us to build a payments company dedicated to the businesses that make outdoor adventures possible.

Our story

Why Fizel?

After years inside the payments industry, we kept seeing the same thing: platforms built for everyone, and understood by no one. Generic pricing. Generic support. Generic advice for businesses whose year looks nothing like a calendar quarter.

So we built something narrower on purpose. Rather than serving every industry, we chose to focus exclusively on businesses connected to outdoor recreation and active lifestyles, because we genuinely understand their customers, their challenges, and their communities.

We have stood at those counters, booked those trips, rented that gear, and waited out those seasons. That is the entire reason Fizel exists.

A note from our founder

Why we built this.

Some of the best hours of my life have been spent outside. On a mountain, in the surf, on a set of skis, on a trail, or standing in a river long after the light went flat. Those days shaped how I see just about everything.

None of them happen on their own. Behind every one is somebody who opened early, tuned the gear, held the slip, ran the shuttle, or kept the gate unlocked through a quiet season. Bike shops, guides, campgrounds, marinas, resorts, outfitters, and independent retailers build the experiences the rest of us remember.

After decades in payments, the gap was hard to ignore. These businesses were being handed tools designed for someone else entirely.

Fizel exists to make payments simple for the outdoor economy, and to back the people who get the rest of us outside.

Experience

Built on decades of payments experience.

Fizel is built by people who have spent their careers in payments — starting and running payment businesses, developing the technology behind them, and supporting merchants through every kind of season.

Between us, we have helped businesses accept billions of dollars in payments across thousands of merchant accounts. That foundation is what lets us build something narrow on purpose: a payments company for the outdoor economy.

Why the outdoor economy

One industry. Endless adventures.

Outdoor businesses rarely fit one box. A single operation might sell gear in the morning, rent it at noon, teach a lesson in the afternoon, and host an event that weekend — all inside a season measured in weeks.

What we believe

Four things we don't compromise on.

  • 01

    We Specialize

We focus exclusively on outdoor and recreation businesses. That is the whole list.

  • 02

    We Build Relationships

Long-term partnerships instead of long-term contracts.

  • 03

    We Keep It Simple

Transparent pricing, reliable technology, and responsive support.

  • 04

    We Think Long-Term

Helping businesses thrive for decades, not quarters.

A Fizel initiative

1% for the Outdoors

The businesses we serve depend on healthy trails, clean rivers, protected coastlines, and thriving outdoor communities. Supporting those places isn't a marketing campaign. It's part of our mission.

  • Protect the places we play

Trail stewardship, conservation, habitat restoration, and public access projects that keep outdoor landscapes healthy and open.

  • Strengthen outdoor communities

Youth outdoor programs, volunteer organizations, local events, and initiatives that introduce more people to the outdoors.

  • Report on it openly

As the program takes shape, we'll share where support goes, who we partner with, and what it made possible.

1% for the Outdoors

We're building this the way we build everything else — slowly, deliberately, and for the long run. Details on partners, volunteer initiatives, and annual giving will follow as the program grows.

Built by outdoor people

We don’t just serve the outdoor economy. We live it.

Weekends, early mornings, shoulder seasons. The same shops, guides, rental counters, and trailheads our customers run are the ones we show up at.

Looking ahead

Building the future of outdoor payments.

Our ambition isn’t to become the largest payment processor. It’s to become the most trusted payments partner for outdoor businesses across North America.

That means growing at the pace of the relationships we build, investing in the tools operators actually ask for, and staying close enough to the counter to keep learning.

If your business helps people get outside, we’re building for you.
